Craig began working for his fathers' car sales business in Christchurch at a young age. Craig worked as a car-groomer initially, before graduating top overall in Canterbury as a fully qualified mechanic and employing his skills in this area. He recalls a day when the workshop was quiet, when he asked if he could wear a tie and lend a hand in sales, at that time making his first successful sale and launching himself into the footsteps of both his father and grandfather.

Though Craig is more often seen chatting to customers than under a hood, his mechanical skills remain invaluable to him. With a Grade A Mechanics Qualification behind him, Craig maintains his industry advantage by having a clear knowledge, insight and first-hand experience of all of the aspects of the business. This knowledge enables him to select the highest quality cars as well as diagnose any vehicle issue that may arise.

It was Craig’s much respected father who was an industry pioneer, sourcing from overseas and providing quality second hand cars to discerning New Zealand buyers. It was he who started the first Costello new and used car dealership in Christchurch, making the bold statement of his commitment to reliability and integrity by fronting the business with his family name. A tradition that has been continued to this day.
